Is it wrong for a Christian to be depressed? What is depression?

Depression is not a sin. People suffering from depression are valid and worthy of love and help no matter what the reason behind their pain. There is nothing sinful about being sad, depressed, or worn down by the world (Romans 8:20-22; Genesis 3:14-19). Life can be tough, and it is OK to be upset and frustrated about it for a time. While we cannot control outside factors that contribute to depression, our response to those factors is still our responsibility. Seek counseling. Ask your doctor if medication may be helpful. Ask God for wisdom, direction, and reminders of your status as His beloved son or daughter. Daby Yohanan Is it wrong for a Christian to be depressed? What is depression? What is depression? What does the Bible say about racism, prejudice, and discrimination?

Image
The first thing we need to agree upon when talking talking about this topic is that there is really only one race—the human race. For example, Caucasians, Africans, Asians, Indians, Arabs, and Jews are not different races; they are different  ethnicities  within the one human race. Other than minor variations, all human beings have the same basic physical traits, and every person is made in the image and likeness of God Himself ( Genesis 1:26-27 ). How cool is that? We get to have similar characteristics as God, such as creativity and having a spirit. And He loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to lay down His life for us. When  John 3:16  refers to the "world," it is talking about the entire human race—all ethnic groups, religions, subcultures, and social cliques included. Racism is nothing new. Sadly, racism has been a plague on humanity for thousands of years. In the first half of the Bible, the Old Testament, God divided humanity into two groups: Jew...

You are God's Masterpiece

Image
You are a Masterpiece: Young queen, your worth is not determined by the number of heads you turn on a given day. It is not determined by the number of "boys" who ask to buy your drink at the club or take you home. It is not determined by number of "boys" who ask if you are on Whatsapp or who send you request of Facebook or follows you on Instagram.  It's NOT determined by the designer clothes, hair, or makeup you purchased attempting to perfect your outer appearance. You are already perfect through the lens of God's eyes. Hear me, I understand all you've ever wanted is to be loved, respected, protected and cherished. Listen to me: You are already a treasure to be treasured. Your heart is a priceless possession. Your beauty is unmatched. Your Crown is magnificent. You are so loved RIGHT NOW by the true King who willingly, without question, gave His life to be with you and to show you just how loved you truly are. Don't take off your crown for...

Revealing Abuse

I want to make it clear that if you want to invoke Bible verses to control and manipulate your wife, the Bible is against you. If you harm your wife physically, sexually, emotionally, or materially, Jesus stands against you. To hide behind the Bible in order to justify how you treat your wife is vile. Justifying your attitudes and actions with the Bible is like blaming the cook book for the food poisoning you caused when you cooked a meal with putrid meat. The issue isn’t with the book, but what you brought out of your fridge. You are destroying your family, dishonouring God, and deceiving yourself. I have met men like the ones described in Julia Baird’s article—not many, but a couple. When their anger was exposed they became even more heated. When we assisted their families, they stormed out. When we called on them to repent, they admitted no wrongdoing and instead tried to play the victim. When we told them to leave the church, they were vindictive and spread all manner of falsity. T...
