A Vision for Sustainable Development and Economic Renewal

The Festival of Greed From BAL to CAL to Carnival, a cycle of mismanagement has plagued the nation, leaving no fiscal space for genuine development. Between 2015 and 2024, corruption, fraudulent practices, arbitrary arrests, and internet blackouts have marred the threshold of general elections. This “Festival of Greed” was a curse, prioritizing land speculation over agriculture and neglecting the backbone of our economy. Silence is an Offense The people have rejected indifference to the gross violations of their freedoms and rights. Silence in the face of oppression is an offense. Citizens united, rejecting this degradation of democracy. The Pen is Mightier than the Sword Instead of succumbing to chaos, the people wielded their pens and voted en masse to rid the country of PJ’s regime. The era of greed and injustice has been consigned to the dustbin of political history. --- The Path to Responsibility and Equity A Responsible Government for a Just Future As a responsible go...

The Fruits of the Flesh and the Fruits of the Spirit

In Galatians 5:19-21 , the Apostle Paul outlines the “works of the flesh” that are contrary to a life led by the Spirit. These actions and attitudes arise when we prioritize our sinful desires over God’s will. Understanding these behaviors can help Christians recognize and resist them, choosing instead to walk in the Spirit and bear His fruit. The Works of the Flesh Paul lists the following as the works of the flesh: 1. Adultery and Lust - Violations of the sanctity of marriage and purity of thought. Matthew 5:28 : "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." 2. Fornication and Uncleanness - Sexual immorality and impurity in thoughts, words, and deeds. Ephesians 5:3: "But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints." 3. Lasciviousness - Excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures. Jude 1:4 : "...ungodly persons who...

The Soul and Its Vulnerability to Sin

What is the Soul According to the Bible? The soul, according to Scripture, is a fundamental aspect of our being. It represents the immaterial, eternal part of a person that houses our mind, will, emotions, and spiritual connection to God.  Genesis 2:7  tells us, “Then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.” The Hebrew word for “creature” here is nephesh, often translated as soul. This passage shows that the soul is God-breathed, making it sacred and designed to reflect His glory. The soul is precious because it connects us to God and determines our eternal destiny. Jesus emphasized its importance in  Matthew 16:26 : “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” Yet, when we sin or engage in actions contrary to God’s will, our soul experiences profound hurt and fragmentation. ...

The Weight of Words: A Warning Against Gossip and Rumors

In today’s world, gossip and rumors often spread like wildfire, tearing apart relationships, tarnishing reputations, and sowing discord. Yet, many who engage in such behavior claim to live as Christians. This is a direct contradiction to what God calls us to be. Gossiping, spreading false rumors, and acting out of jealousy or envy are not only sins but carry severe consequences for both the speaker and the listener. Gossip: A Sin in God’s Eyes The Bible clearly warns against gossip and false accusations. Proverbs 16:28 says, "A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends." Gossip is not just idle talk; it is a weapon that destroys trust, friendships, and even families. Worse, it reflects a heart far from God, filled with pride, envy, or insecurity. James 1:26 adds, "Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless." If you claim to b...

From Challenges to Community: My Journey with Joe Cold Storage

Since 2017, being self-employed has been a journey of ups and downs. At first, it wasn't easy—especially after the second COVID-19 lockdown, when rising prices and uncertainties made things even tougher. But through it all, the unwavering support of my customers has been my greatest motivation. It’s not just about selling products; it’s about the relationships I’ve built. Seeing people not only buying from Joe Cold Storage but also seeking my advice and showing me respect has given me the strength to persevere. To some, "Joe Cold Storage" might just be a small business. But to me, it’s a symbol of hard work, resilience, and connection. Everywhere I go, hearing someone call out, "Hey Mr. Chicken, ki pe dir? Nou zouene biento!" reminds me of how far I’ve come and the community I’m proud to be a part of. Thank you for making this journey worthwhile!

The Power of Calm in Leadership

In leadership, the pressures can often feel overwhelming. Decisions pile up, people depend on you, and emotions can run high. It’s easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment and let frustration or stress take control. But as followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard of leadership—one rooted in calm, grace, and a sound mind. The Bible offers us guidance on how to lead with composure and wisdom, even in the most difficult situations. Calm is Your Greatest Strength Proverbs 16:32 reminds us, "Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city." True leadership isn’t about dominance or aggression but about patience and self-control. In moments of tension, taking a step back, breathing deeply, and approaching the situation with clarity makes all the difference. When we allow ourselves to be guided by the peace of God, we can make decisions that are not just reactive, but thoughtful and aligned with His will. Le...

Pastors and Leaders: Christ-like Examples in the Home and the Church

Pastors and church leaders are called to be role models, reflecting Christ’s love and character both in their public ministry and private lives. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). However, many pastors struggle with the very things they preach against: abuse, immorality, pride, and hypocrisy. This article explores the importance of integrity in pastoral leadership, urging leaders to live out the Gospel in every area of their lives—especially in their families. 1. Pastors are to Model Christ-like Love The Bible calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the Church: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25). This is not only a command for married men but especially for pastors, who are to live as examples to the flock. Unfortunately, some leaders show compassion and love to others in their ministry but fail to extend the same grace to their wives and chi...

Sebastopol SSS: Learning for Life

Reflecting on my college years at Sebastopol SSS, where our motto was "Learn for Life," I can’t help but smile at the memories that flood my mind. Those formative years were filled with laughter, learning, and friendships that shaped my life in ways I am still discovering today. Education That Extended Beyond the Classroom At Sebastopol, education was a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of knowledge and life lessons. I can still picture Miss Sheilani, our spirited French teacher, who not only taught us the intricacies of the language but also introduced us to the magical world of Harry Potter. I remember how she organized a movie day where we all gathered to watch the first film. The excitement was palpable, and to this day, I still find joy in revisiting the saga that first captivated us through her enthusiasm. Respecting Life and Each Other Miss Jaya, our biology teacher, was another guiding light. Her lessons were rich with insights about life and the importance of r...
